The Violin by anon-y-mouse The Violin by anon-y-mouse
One of the photographs shot last semester for an assignment - can't remember for the life of me what the requirements for the assignment were, other than that this got marked an 'A'.

Single light-source (500 watt bulb on a stand, with silver umbrella) - would have liked to have placed it farther away, but the little room upstairs that serves as a psedo-studio kind of is lacking in the department of space.

This shot is classic! Almost... I just have one question. Did you compose it that way on purpose? You cut off his bow arm and left a lot of dead space to his left. Otherwise, this is absolutely fantastic. :)

I like this shot, maybe because being a musician myself I have a passion for music and instruments. You so well captured his friendly face and character in this shot, and the pose looks natural :nod: only the way he is holding the violin bow is confusing me...
the forehad and right hand look a little too white-ish for me, but I guess that's due to the too close lightsource, as you wrote in the description.
other than that, nice work :aww:

Daniel =)

That is such a nice portrait. My only gripe is how it's cut off on the left. :( Other then that though, I love it. So calming... ahh. Good work. :)

a tiny bit washed out on the forehead, but an awsome shot non the less, shows feelings and everywhere else is a perfect exposure.

Excellent portrait. B&W is often hard to do with people...getting good contrast. Well done.

Looks like a very kind old man. I am planning to do some photos that are similar looking to it.

I'm not sure why, but looking at this, I get the feeling the guy is going to crack a massive grin and play a jig any second.

Or maybe that's just me.

I like this picture a lot. It's got a lot of...well, story to it.

THe light is a little blown out but its balanced by the black backdrop. I like this work and I love the model
